Visitation in Service to Others Through Responsive Youth

The seed of VISTORY was planted by the Visitation Sisters in 1998 at Mt. de Chantal Visitation Academy in Wheeling, WV. What began as a celebration of monastic anniversaries quickly grew into a living expression of gratitude: rather than simply marking milestones, the Sisters chose to give back in service to the communities their monasteries and schools call home.

For more than 25 years, the Sisters and the VSN have cultivated VISTORY as a witness to the transformative power of God’s compassionate love—an invitation to Live Jesus.

Each summer, VISTORY brings high school students into an immersive week of service, sisterhood, and Salesian spirituality. Students forge meaningful relationships with the people they encounter and consistently describe the experience as life-changing—deepening their compassion, broadening their understanding of societal inequities, and strengthening their confidence to make a difference. Participants also come away with a lasting sense of responsibility, rooted in faith and Salesian tradition, to uphold human dignity and help alleviate the suffering of others.
