• Educating the Mind and Heart in the Visitation Tradition ~ The Six Goals of a Visitation Education
  • The National VSN Committee first created this booklet as a guide for educators in all of the Visitation Schools. The purpose was to present the Visitation educational philosophy and mission as educators in this tradition in terms of six goals which help substantiate the charism of the Visitation. It is through the oversight and responsibility of the VSN National Director that a periodic Salesian evaluation occurs at each Visitation School in a five-year cycle to ascertain that the Salesian charism is alive and well on every level of school life by assessing how these goals are being achieved in each respective school.

• Introducing Salesian Spirituality – A Formation Guide for Administrators, Faculty and Staff in Visitation Schools
  • This formation guide is one tool designed to provide information and insight regarding the character and charism of our Visitation Schools.

• Live Jesus
  • This booklet is a result of a meeting held in 1995 of the Apostolic Presence Committee of the Second Federation of the Sisters of the Visitation. The committee proposed a booklet similar to the Goals and Criteria for Visitation Schools in the United States, created by the Ministry Network, which could apply to all Visitation ministries. Sister Isabel Clark made a collection of Salesian practices, Scripture quotes, and Salesian readings. Ministry Network members and mothers of St. Louis Visitation students made the final selection for publication. The mothers wanted a book that could accompany them everywhere from which they could learn how to Live Jesus. What we now offer to all segments of our Visitation family – Sisters, colleagues in our ministries, parents of our students, friends, alumnae of our schools, students, and all with whom we come in contact in any of our ministries- is a work that describes the essentials of the multi-faceted spirituality of Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal, a classic and yet a contemporary guide to holiness. Each element of this spirituality has value in its own right; but when all the parts are put together, they create a beautiful mosaic which illustrates a sure path to a deeper love of God and to the means of nurturing this love in our everyday lives. 

• Justice Shall Flourish: Changing the World from Within ~ The Salesian Tradition and Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Created by the Visitation Sisters and Salesian collaborators, this booklet invites us to explore Catholic Social Teaching in relation to the Salesian tradition. It offers a Salesian perspective on the central values of Catholic Social Teaching; how it is relevant to current local, national and international concerns; how it challenges us to undergo prayerful conversion from “what we are for ourselves” to what we are called to be “for others.” The aim of this booklet is to see how the values of Catholic Social Teaching connect us to the dynamic practices of our Salesian tradition and offer us a way to Live Jesus in our world today.

• Gentle Visitation Voice ~ Principles of Salesian Dialogue
  • This guide is designed to help Visitation students, faculty, staff, and members of the Visitation community approach difficult conversations with grace, gentle strength, and truth. The acronym “GRACE” represents five key principles of Salesian Dialogue, helping us become Gentle Visitation Voices in a world in need of civility.

Resources by or about the Sisters of the Visitation

• “Visitation Spirit”: An online ministry of the Second Federation of the Visitation in the United States that promotes the spirituality of Sts. Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal.
• At the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Visitation Order, a historical dedication book was published to honor the worldwide contributions of the Visitation Order entitled, The Visitation: A Monastic Way of Life in the Church.

• For over 20 years, Anne Goetze made repeated journeys to Annecy, France, to visit her Aunt Helen, Soeur Margarite Marie, at the Monastère de la Visitation, home to the Visitation Order founded by St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane de Chantal. Anne Goetze’s book Pray to Love: A Contemplative Life, over 100 pages of photos, text, prose, quotes and Biblical verse, tell a journey of faith and of the Visitation Sisters’ inspired way of Living Jesus… from Annecy to the Americas.
